Please Leave a Message!

You keep calling and asking for it, surprisingly enough! I know we're a little out dated on our voice mail but we thought you would let us retire our greetings for now! All the complaints about how addicting our answering machine songs were, and you want it back now? REALLY? :)

These songs did make for some interesting voice mails! We were guaranteed lots of messages when we would get home.....even if it was 10 seconds of laughter (and by the way, when you call and hang up and call and hang up and call and hang up again, we know who you are!) LOL!

Let's see...what have we done so far:

DR. SEUSS - this was when THE CAT IN THE HAT came out - I was inspired!
"You've reached The Martin's
Thank you for your call
But we're not home not around at all
Not Brandi, not Kenley not Cameron or Joe
not even our dog we named Ocho
All of us are out today
and when we'll be back we cannot say
but please leave a message after the tone
and we'll call you back when we get home"

I'M A LITTLE TEAPOT song - Kenley LOVED to sing and dance to this song when she was just over a year old....another inspiration for this and it was her debut to the greeting!

"Ocho, Kenley, Cameron, Brandi and Joe.
We are The Martin's, we're not home.
Leave your name and number at the tone
and we'll call (pause)
you back when we get home."

M-A-R-T-I-N H-O-U-S-E (Mickey Mouse Song) This will always be a classic!
"We know you called to say hello to all your friends at theeeee
M-A-R-T-I-N H-O-U-S-E
Leave a message for
Brandi, Joe, Cameron or Kenley (then Kenley says, THAT's ME)
and one of us will call you from The Martin Familyyyyy!" (that's Cameron's part)

Since we now are The Martin/Myers/Lee Family we've had a little bit if writers block but we're happy to say we think we have one down. All of us had ideas and input so, many minds of creativity involved here!

Are you ready??????????
TRUST ME...you won't be so surprised!

The Crazy 8's (The Brady Bunch song )
"You called the house of
our new big family
See, at first it started out with just us 4.
There is Brandi, Joe, Cameron and Kenley
And now we have 3 more.
There's Nikki who's 16
and then there's Ashlyn
who's 11 but she's almost turning 12.
And the youngest one...
her name is Maddy (and yes she does have curls)
We also have a dog, his name is Ocho
And in Spanish that means the number 8.
Now we're all one big
HUGE HAPPY FAMILY
We're The Crazy 8!
The Crazy 8!
The Crazy 8!
Leave your name and message for
The CRAZY 8's!

Now, obviously that is SUPER LONG! So, we thought we would just spare you all and not have that as our voice mail greeting. We DO have one made up and now that you've asked, there it is. HAPPY? I bet you're even happier it isn't the greeting when you call and have to leave a message! Hahaha!

Even though most of you thought we were dorks (and I'm not objecting), it was so fun and great to hear some of you were disappointed that these greetings have gone away. We're not saying they are gone forever, just on hold for now. You never know what will inspire us in the future.....(DUN, DUN, DUN)

TO BE CONTINUED!

Kids and Politics

Kenley says she wants to be a "Demacat" when she grows up. Cameron is "for the Republic" and Maddy follows him. Ashlyn just wants to see history made and have the first "American African" be elected president. Are they too young to be thinking about this?! Whether they are or aren't, we decided it made for many great conversations at the dinner table these last few months. Nothing like political soup for dinner and a debatable dessert! Joe would look at me across the dinner table and see I was bursting with pride! I did love every minute of it, listening to our kids have such a sophisticated conversation and hear the perspectives of a 5, 8, 10 and 12 year old!

Although it was fun, we did decide to break things down a bit for them so they REALLY understood what they were voting for. We explained what each politician's views were on education...something that would affect them as they are right now....KIDS! We also found nick.com/vote and on Tuesday, each kid got to vote online for who they wanted to see as their next president. The president who would pave the path to their futures for the next 4 to 8 years possibly! They felt so grown up and proud! We had each one vote in private and we made stickers (well....okay.....they colored "I voted" on a piece of paper and stuck it on with tape) for when they were done. We never asked who they voted for and they LOVED the freedom of not having to tell us! :)

At 5:30AM Wednesday, Ashlyn and Cameron woke up. We heard them go downstairs to find out the results of the presidential election and we got to hear their reactions. A moment we will remember forever and one that we know they will tell their children when they are parents. Absolutely Unforgettable and so inspiring!

Some how, we must be doing okay raising the Fab 5, for them to be so involved and committed to their futures! After all, that is what we are trying to provide for them. Just that, in fact.
A FUTURE.

God Bless America and her kids!
